Doctors of Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka, for the first time, have successfully transplanted trans-catheter pulmonary valve on the heart of patients without surgery.
The milestone success in transplanting pulmonary valve without operation was achieved by a team of cardiologists, led by Dr Colonel Nurun Nahar, during a workshop, titled Trans-catheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement`, held at the CMH at Dhaka Cantonment on December 25-27.
The workshop was conducted under the overall supervision of Dr Mansur Al Zofan, structural and interventional cardiologist and senior research scientist of King Faisal Specialized Hospital of Saudi Arabia.
An ISPR release, issued in Dhaka on Tuesday, said expert physicians, including leading cardiologists, successfully accomplished some complex cardiac interventions during the three-day workshop.
They specialist doctors also transplanted cardiovascular devices on three heart patients, including two civilians, during the workshop.
