Jagdumur is a longc tree with widely spread-out branches. It has green leaves. Its bark is brown coloured. Jagdumur has no flower. It produces its fruits right from the start which look green at their first appearance, but when they ripen they take on a reddish-orange colour. It has several medicinal qualities. Its fruits, leaves, root, bark- all arc used as medicines. Besides curing skin diseases it is useful in killing bacteria, removing wind from the stomach, improving appetite, treating various kinds of female ailments and gonorrhea.

A tree of medium size with several branches. It is called Kak Dumur perhaps because Kak or the crow eats its fruits. The green dumur which is nutritious is a tasty vegetable for many in its cooked form. Its leaves are green and rough, Two kinds of Dumur can be seen in Bangladesh.
They have various other names, such as, Patri, Ajakshari, Chitra Bheshaja, Kako Dumbarika etc. Like the Bata or Banyan flower its flower also is not visible as it lies hidden inside the fruits. Young shoots of Kak Dumur grow from seeds. It produces its flowers and fruits all the year round. However, one can see them more abundantly during the rainy season. Kak Dumur has some medicinal virtues. It is useful in the treatment of stomach troubles and some other illnesses. It cures diarrhoea. It is a good medicine for all kinds of ailments except constipation.
